About Akothwestling

I am an accomplished Peace and Security Specialist with 15 years of experience shaping, influencing, and executing development policies through a robust human rights framework. Throughout my career, I have successfully equipped children and youth with sustainable peacebuilding and conflict management strategies. As Policy Coordinator for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts (WAGGGS), I engaged in high-level global forums such as the ECOSOC Youth Forum and built strategic synergies with premier international stakeholders such as the US Institute of Peace (USIP) to drive impactful peacebuilding development outcomes.

A global perspective

Driven by an entrepreneurial and academic spirit, I am the founder of the award-winning local organization, Impart Change, and an active researcher specializing in women, youth, peace, security, and political development. My contributions to the field have earned prestigious international recognitions, including being named a Sakharov Fellow by the European Parliament. My unique background includes living in Kenya, the USA, and Sweden. I am multilingual and have extensive experience working in multicultural environments, bringing a diverse perspective to every project.

Recognized achievements and speaking engagements

I am proud of my achievements, including being selected an Obama Foundation Leader - Africa, a Sakharov Fellow with the European Parliament, and winning the Swedish Scholarship Institute for Global Professionals (SISGP). I have also had the honor of speaking at various international organizations and UN High-Level Events such as the ECOSOC Youth Forum, the UNAOC Global Forum, the Tana High-level Forum on Security in Africa, and the US-Africa Partnership Symposium.
